JOB TITLE: Lake Ranger
PAY RANGE: starting at $11.54/hr
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Parks Supervisor
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Under general direction performs manual and semi-skilled work as assigned by the Parks Maintenance Division. Work varies, requiring independent judgment in the oversight and coordination of the Division activities within established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Hours of Operation are noon to 9:00 pm 25 hours per week.
Days off are Monday and Tuesday, except holidays, with days worked negotiable.
Physical demands include bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, reaching, walking on rough or uneven terrain, kneeling, and pulling or lifting up to 50#s (greater with assistance).
Work is performed primarily outdoors in uncontrollable working conditions of inclement weather of heat, cold, dampness, dust, moderate noise levels, and hazardous chemicals;
Must possess a valid Oklahoma Drivers License.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:
Collects fees for camping, boating, and fishing;
Ensures that all ordinances for the City and laws of the State of Oklahoma are obeyed;
Writes citations for infractions of the law and ordinances;
Patrols lake area by boat and vehicle;
Detects, reports and/or corrects unsafe conditions of immediate area to the supervisor;
Prepares daily, monthly, and annual reports, often requiring detailed analysis and original data, and submits the reports o the appropriate agencies;
Work is mostly performed outdoors subject to inclement weather conditions of heat, cold, and dampness and may be exposed to hazards and chemicals;
Contacts with other agencies, departments, the public, and employees is considerable requiring common courtesy and respect;
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: None.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from high school, or its equivalent, PLUS
One year general work experience; experience with Parks/Lake maintenance desirable;
Must possess a valid Oklahoma Drivers License and maintain a status of insurability.

EXAMPLES OF PERFORMANCE CRITERIA AND EXPECTATIONS:
May periodically perform stand-by and call-back work during off duty hours;
Work is seasonal May through September, could be longer depending on weather;
Must possess knowledge and ability to operate a boat safely and knowledge of Oklahoma boating laws;
Is responsible for equipment and facilities of value that requires care to prevent damage and the use of proper safety equipment following established boating and safety procedures to prevent injury;
Must possess knowledge of safe work practices and procedures;
Performs other duties that may be assigned.
