JOB TITLE: Customer Service Clerk
DEPARTMENT: City Clerk Office
PAY RANGE: Grade 10 starting at $12.98/hour
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Customer Service Supervisor
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Under general supervision is responsible for collecting water utility payments and providing information concerning customer services. Work varies little, required limited individual judgment within well defined procedures and standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment;
Physical requirements include bending, stooping, prolonged sitting, and lifting up to 35#s (greater with assistance);
Must possess a valid Oklahoma Drivers License.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:
Collects and processes payments for installation fees or deposits, water utilities or other city bills or charges from customers; Processes returned checks;
Establishes new customer accounts, prepares work orders for meter problems, service connections and disconnects;
Communicates with citizens and other city employees by telephone and/or in person exchanging necessary information regarding service complaints and other concerns;
Performs a variety of clerical duties, including composing correspondence, completing forms, and posting information;
Maintains, reviews, and makes customer agreements for payment of utility bills;
Reviews and generates delinquent and cut-off lists, seeks to collect on final accounts;
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: None.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from high school, or its equivalent; PLUS
One year of general office/clerical experience;
Must be bondable;
EXAMPLES OF PERFORMANCE CRIERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess knowledge of customer service skills, office procedures, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and customers;
Ability to handle large sums of money.
