The Community Development
division is responsible for providing support to the
community through Code Enforcement, the Action
Center and by interpreting and implementing the General Plan as adopted by the
City
Commission. This consists of processing applications for land
development, including environmental assessment, architectural and landscaping review and
commercial sign requests.
Justin Erickson Dept: Planning-Code Enforcement Position: Community Development/Planning Director Justin Erickson serves as the Community Development Director for the City of Shawnee and has been with the City since August 2008. He is originally from Washington State, where he worked as a land use planner in county and city government and was most recently a Senior Planner with the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG). While at the CWCOG, Justin worked with small and medium-sized communities on a variety of planning issues, simultaneously serving as a city planner, planning consultant, and executive officer of the county annexation review board. He has developed many city codes and ordinances and has worked extensively on long-range plans including comprehensive land use, and park and recreation plans. Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in geography and a master’s degree in natural and cultural resource management.
