Police Data Chart Maker

Overview

The Online Chart Maker spawned from the various charts being created for Shawnee CompStat processing and the desire by Information Systems to see historical trends and dig into the data that is available in the Police records system. By using existing code and creating generic enough charting that will fit the basic needs for daily counts areas such as Incidents, Arrests, Citations and Accidents can be charted.

Data Quality

Note that data is only available back to approximately 2001 when the existing Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System was installed. Any data listed prior to 2001 is either data in an error state or back entries made for various purposes.

Error Trapping and Bad Input

The code attempts to chart the data input BUT if invalid dates are input or other conflicting data is presented the chart resets to the preset previous 28 day period and removes most options.

The charting application is provided by AdvSoftEng.com. The registered version should be online in early 2006. All coding and development by Stephen W Nolen.
