2. WHAT MATERIALS WILL BE RECYCLED?
Aluminum Beverage Cans
- Leave the tabs on
- Rinse the cans with water
- No pie tins, aluminum foil, or siding
Plastic Water, Soda & Milk Bottles
- Labels are OK
- Remove caps or plastic rings from necks
- All food residue must be rinsed from plastic or it is not recyclable
Newsprint
- Newspaper, Circulars, & Inserts
- Bag or bundle but it's not necessary
- Dry newspaper only
- NO MAGAZINES!
3. WHEN?
7 Days a Week Monday thru Friday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Saturday 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Sunday 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

5. WHY? - Several Reasons
- Because Shawnee citizens wanted to recycle
- It's energy efficient
- To ease landfill volume
- It's the right thing to do!
6. HOW? - It's Easy!
- You can separate materials in paper bags or trash cans at home
- Keep containers in a convenient place for you (near the trash, in the utility room, on the back porch...)
- Drop off while shopping or running errands
- Start a compost pile with you other waste materials and yard trimmings to use as fertilizer for your yard or garden
- It only takes 21 days of repeating an action to develop a new habit...Make a difference
7. REMEMBER
- Place all material to be recycled INSIDE the green containers provided for recycling.
