Potholes and Street Light Outages

Though a never-ending struggle, the City of Shawnee is dedicated to finding and fixing our thoroughfare system for a safe and smooth experience. But we cannot fix the issues that we aren't aware of. This is where we need your help. Your reporting assists us greatly in repairing our roads in a timely manner.

Similarly, as part of a safe system, we want to keep our roads well lit. This is a bit trickier, because the majority of the street lights are maintained by OG&E. Much like roads, we need you to be our eyes and notify OG&E if you see any lights out. They have indicated to us that the very best method is to file the outage with them online. They have an online, dedicated ticket service that efficiently relays the information they need to get it taken care of. As a courtesy, the City of Shawnee's Street's and Engineering Department is happy to take calls and relay the information to OG&E, but it is not a faster method in getting the problem fixed.

We're working hard to have a better response on getting these issues taken care of in a timely fashion. This is a group effort though, and this post is generated in an attempt to equip everyone with the knowledge to better tackle these problems.

Here's to safer streets!
