PAY RANGE:               Grade 13, starting at $15.53/hour

 PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Manager, this position is responsible for the efficient operation of the department’s administrative activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, REC1, and other web-based software.
  • Provides friendly, positive communication with co-workers, patrons, and citizens; contact with the public requires confidentiality and the use of tact and diplomacy.
  • Tracks purchase order requests, expenditures, and updates department records.
  • Prepares regular departmental reports, records, and agendas. Maintains electronic filing systems.
  • Manages departmental correspondence and daily deposits.
  • Performs general secretarial skills such as typing, proofreading, scheduling appointments, editing website, updating REC1, etc.
  • Answers telephone and inquiries, refer patrons as appropriate.
  • Physical requirements include sitting and standing, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and repetitive movements. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to thirty-five (35) pounds, greater with assistance. 
  • Must be able to understand and execute both oral and written instructions.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Submits service requests for maintenance needs.
  • Process various applications, orders, permits and other forms throughout the department.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, travel, and itinerary schedules for department personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintains general office supplies and equipment.
  • May be required to work overtime or in other Public Works areas as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:  None

 EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented with experience or training in Office Management.
  • Three years of experience in an office or recreational setting; office management experience desirable.
