The mission of the Shawnee Fire Department is simply the following:
Prevent Harm. Survive. Be nice.
*As the mission of our department, these words are meant to provide a basic framework from which our departmental values can be determined. In other words, the actions we take and the decisions we make as Shawnee Fire Department members should somehow serve to enhance our ability to accomplish the mission.
A properly installed and maintained smoke alarm is the only thing in your home that can alert you and your family to a fire 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whether you are awake or asleep, a working smoke alarm is constantly on alert, scanning the air for fire and smoke.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in properties without working smoke alarms. A working smoke alarm significantly increases your chances of surviving a deadly home fire.
If you are a homeowner and live within the city limits, the Shawnee Fire Department will install a new smoke alarm at no charge!
Call 405-878-1671 to schedule an appointment.
If you rent, your landlord is responsible to provide a working smoke alarm on every floor. If you need a 9 volt battery replaced in an existing smoke alarm, this service is provided free of charge to home owners by calling 405-878-1671.
