The City of Shawnee Recreation Department was resurrected in July 2017 from a long break as far back as the early 1980's.   It is now again a part of the Parks and Recreation Department.   The newly restructured department is very focused on bringing new life to this great city.   A promising vision has been set, and step by step the great future will be a reality in years to come. Bringing safe, fun recreation to families in our community  is our daily mission.

We are actively seeking volunteers, interns, or students looking to serve in the Parks and Recreation Department.  A wide variety of opportunities exist, both for one-time projects or on-going programs.  We recently started a youth volunteer program as well.  If you or someone you know are interested in applying as a volunteer, please contact us at or call 405-878-1528.
