Fitness

Join us for fun fitness classes for all levels! 
All classes are drop-in, no registration required.   (For more information about the fitness program, call the Recreation Center at 405-878-1528) 

Senior Fitness Classes
Offered free for individuals age 55+, with a suggested donation of $1.00 per class.  (All donated fitness funds help cover program costs such as fitness supplies, equipment, promotional materials, and fitness studio enhancements.) 

Enhance Fitness - Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30-9:30am (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center) 
A multi-component exercise class that improves cardiovascular stamina and overall body strengthening. Exercises are done while standing at times as well as sitting.  (Beginning to medium fitness levels can all participate) 
 Objectives
  • Develop Cardiovascular Endurance 
  • Improved Muscular Strength 
  • Increased Flexibility

Chair Fitness-Stretching  - Monday, Wednesday 10:00-11:00am (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center)
Gentle movements and stretches while seated in a chair.  The focus is on deep breathing and releasing tension in your body.   (Beginning to medium fitness levels can all participate) 
Objectives
  • Increased flexibility
  • Relaxation
  • Increased oxygen flow and circulation

Tai Chi   - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11:30am - 12:30pm  (Ages 55+  @ Rec Center)
Modified Tai Chi series of movements providing opportunities for balance, breathing, and stretching. (Beginning to medium fitness levels can all participate) 
Objectives
  • Increased flexibility
  • Relaxation
  • Increased oxygen flow and circulation
  • Increased balance

Sail (Stay Active & Independent for Life) - Monday, Wednesday 1:30-2:30pm, and Friday 10:00-11:00am (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center)
Well rounded class to help increase strength, balance, and fitness plus incorporate active movements into everyday life.  (Beginning to medium fitness levels can all participate)

  • Improved self confidence
  • Falls Prevention


Tai Chi for Better Balance -
Tuesday, Thursday 8:30-9:30am (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center) 
Modified Tai Chi series of movements providing balance, breathing, and stretching.  (Beginning to medium fitness levels can all participate)

Chair Fitness-Strength  - Tuesday, Thursday 10:00-11:00am (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center)
This more challenging workout combines cardio, strength, and flexibility.  (Medium fitness level and above to participate;  Beginning fitness levels are encouraged to make modifications as appropriate.  Instructor can advise modification options.)

  • Improve Quality of Life
  • Lower Risk of Dementia
  • Reduced Risk of Depression


Yoga -
Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-4:30pm (Ages 55+ @ Rec Center) 
This class incorporates movements and poses which focus on balance, flexibility while building overall body strength.   (Medium fitness level and above to participate;  Beginning fitness levels are encouraged to make modifications as appropriate.  Instructor can advise modification options.)

  • Develops muscular and core strength


Premium Fitness Classes  
Pound - Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-6:15pm (Ages 16-54 = $5.00, Ages 55+  = $3.00, College Students =$3   @ Rec Center) 
Pound is a cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.  (Medium fitness level and above.  Modifications can be made, the important thing is to move safely and have fun!)

  • Release Stress
  • Increase Happiness!

Zumba - Monday 5:30-6:30pm (Ages 16-54 =$5, Ages 55+ =$3, College Students =$3 @ Rec Center) 
An energetic, aerobic workout that involves cardio and Latin inspired dance movements.  (Medium fitness level and above.  Modifications can be made, the important thing is to move safely and have fun!)

  • Improve Coordination
  • Burn Calories
  • Tone Muscles 
  • Boost Confidence
  • Increases Fun and Social Enjoyment!
