The Homeless Resource Center (HRC) opened its doors on Monday, July 18, 2022 and served over 120 people from 8 months old to 70 years old in its first week, including providing 42 showers and 9 haircuts. It was initially open three days a week and has since expanded to 5 days a week, with the goal of being open six days a week.

Days of Operation
Monday-Thursday noon-5:00pm
Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm

The HRC offers those experiencing homelessness a safe place away from Main Street to seek rest from weather extremes. At the HRC they can receive services to help them on their journey back to being housed. More than 40 organizations have partnered with the City of Shawnee to bring these services to the HRC, including:
     *  Case Management
     * ID Services (birth certificate, social security card, state ID)
     * Job Services (resume, job search, job application, interview skills)
     * DHS Services (SoonerCare, food stamps, etc.)
     * Substance Abuse Services
     * Mental Health Services
     * Counseling
     * Housing Assistance
     * And More!

To end homelessness, a community-wide coordinated approach is needed.

The Shawnee Rescue Mission has donated its space to the City of Shawnee for the operation of the Homeless Resource Center.
Citizens of Shawnee donated furniture, games, books, art supplies, and more.
The HRC is staffed entirely by volunteers.
Lunches are provided by organizations daily.
Services are provided free of charge by organizations.
Donations of clothing, food, water, and more are donated by organizations and citizens of Shawnee.
