Citywide Spring Clean-up Day on April 15th

Shawnee, Oklahoma, April 3, 2023 – Residents of Shawnee have the opportunity to get involved in the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Great American Clean-up #GACinOK or the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) Trash-off on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Hazardous Waste Materials will also be accepted that day.

Simultaneously, the City of Shawnee is hosting a Spring Clean-up Day on Saturday, April 15, for its residential utility (water and sanitation) customers. From 8 am to 2 pm, Shawnee utility customers can dispose of up to 3 cubic yards, roughly equal to one level pickup truck bed, into available dumpsters at the Central Disposal Transfer Station, located at 700 E. 45th St. The most recent utility bill and an ID is required for access. Please visit www.ShawneeOK.org for a full list of what cannot be accepted.

“Traffic will enter the Transfer Station from the east and exit to the west,” said Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer, City Manager. “This will help keep the traffic flowing. Bringing the items to the Transfer Station offers the ability to empty dumpsters to provide maximum capacity to our customers.”

Join the Trash-Off event with Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and ODOT by visiting the Public Works office at 111 S. Kickapoo Ave. from 8 am until Noon on April 15. Free trash bags and gloves are available for those who join the event. “What street or area looks ‘trashy’ to you? Here’s your chance to help make Shawnee beautiful!”

If residents are unable to participate in the Spring Clean-up Day, City of Shawnee utility customers have curbside bulk waste, 3 cubic yards, pickup available the first full week of the month on their regular trash day. City of Shawnee utility customers may also use the Transfer Station once a month.

Household items that are not accepted include tires, concrete, cinder blocks, bricks, appliances, and construction waste. Hazardous waste materials that are not accepted include ammunition, explosives, tires, pharmaceuticals, biohazard, or radioactive waste.
