Election Results: What to Expect Next

Shawnee, Oklahoma, June 27, 2024 – The certified results are in for the recent City of Shawnee’s City Commission election! As indicated by the prior, preliminary results, a runoff election is now required to determine the voter’s preference for the positions of Mayor and Ward 2 City Commissioner.

To be elected, the candidate must be chosen by the majority of voters - no less than 50.01%. If no candidate has received the required percentage, a run-off is required between the two highest voted for candidates.

The certified City of Shawnee election results have resulted in the following run-offs:
  • Mayoral Race: Eric Stephens received 40.97 percent of the vote, with Ed Bolt close behind at 38.95 percent. Neither candidate secured the required majority, leading to a runoff.
  • Ward 2 Race: Greta Madson and Sydnie Davidson were the two leading candidates in this race, but neither secured the required majority, thus leading to a run-off as well.
Elected by majority vote is Chris Odneal, who secured the seat of City Commissioner for Ward 3. Ashley Fichtner is the candidate who ran unopposed for Ward 4.

The runoff election is scheduled for August 27, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., where the two leading candidates from the initial election will face off to secure their positions. This critical follow-up election will determine the final allocation of seats and ensure that the community’s voice is accurately represented. Citizens can still register to vote until August 2, 2024 .
