Shawnee, Oklahoma, March 14, 2024
– The City of Shawnee is proud to announce that the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK) have awarded the City of Shawnee’s construction contractor, Lambert Construction Company, and the KidSpace Park reconstruction with the 2023 Build Oklahoma – Best in Class Award!

KidSpace Park has been an important part of the Shawnee community for many decades. After its recent reconstruction, the park garnered much attention as one of the top five largest playgrounds in Oklahoma. Its accessible and attractive playground, designed for visitors aged 2 to 100 years, was most recently recognized during the March 9, 2024, AGCOK Banquet that honored KidSpace Park with the 2023 Best in Class Award for Recreational - Park Construction. The park’s completion was guided by the expertise of Lambert Construction Company, who was retained by the City of Shawnee to turn KidSpace Park into a state-of-the-art facility. Lambert Construction Company first started in 1939 and has remained a family-run business to this day. The company operates on the core principles of quality, construction, economy, hard work, and integrity, and it is easy to see how these qualities have translated into a beautiful park for the Shawnee community.

Located at the corner of Center and Wayne Streets, the park was officially reopened in June 2023. KidSpace Park encompasses several distinct areas, and there’s a multitude of play equipment for all age groups, including areas specific to 2–5-year-old as well as 5-12-year-old children. The park also includes is a Ninja challenge course and a 40-yard dash, with timers, for older children and adults. Rounding out the park are areas for passive and active recreation, which include picnic areas, shaded seating, four pavilions, a basketball court, two Pickleball courts, Ping Pong, and other outdoor games. There is no end to the fun at this park.

“There is not a day that goes by where the park isn’t filled with people enjoying the many amenities KidSpace offers,” said Mayor Ed Bolt. “This Park is definitely for families and children of all ages.”
