Emergency Warming Station to Open January 29th Volunteers Needed

Shawnee, Oklahoma, January 27, 2023 – Shawnee’s Emergency Warming Station is set to open Sunday, January 29, 6:00 pm through Wednesday, February 1 at 12:00 noon.

The City of Shawnee has partnered again with C3 Church, 329 N. Pesotum, and over 30 organizations to provide an Emergency Warming Station to keep the homeless population warm and prevent cold-weather injury or death.

Volunteers are needed to make the warming station operational. Volunteers help check people in, serve coffee and snacks, organize and distribute winter clothes, schedule showers, and provide companionship to anyone who needs to take shelter from the cold.

Several 4-hour shifts are available for volunteers. Shifts are 7-11am, 11am-3pm, 3-7pm, 7-11pm, 11 pm-3 am, and 3am-7am. To volunteer for a shift, contact (405) 481-9533.

Clothing and bedding are also needed. The warming station needs blankets and sleeping bags, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, coats, and new underwear. Donated items can be taken to C3 Church.
