– The City of Shawnee Fire Department is proud to 
announce that Lieutenant Brendan (Chip) Sheppard has been honored with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Public Servant Award. This prestigious award is granted annually by the VFW to commend outstanding emergency response personnel, including emergency medical technicians, law enforcement officers, and firefighters. Lt. Sheppard's dedication to serving the community and his exemplary efforts as a firefighter have earned him this recognition.

The VFW National Firefighters Public Servant Citation is a testament to outstanding individuals actively engaged in firefighting, whether as a member of a career or volunteer company organized to fight fires and aid our nation's citizens. Lt. Sheppard has dedicated over 25 years of his life to serving others. After graduating high school, Sheppard joined the Unites States Marine Corps. Upon completion of his assignment, he started as a Volunteer Firefighter with the City of McLoud Fire Department and worked his way up to become full-time staff. In 2006, Sheppard joined the City of Shawnee Fire Department, where he continues to serve his community to this day.

Lt. Sheppard is a true leader and cares about his coworkers and the public he serves. He goes above and beyond what is asked of him to ensure that his crew, the shifts, and the stations are held to the highest standard.

The City of Shawnee Fire Department extends its heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Sheppard on this well-deserved honor. The Department also expresses tremendous gratitude for his continued dedication to the principles of service, sacrifice, and community betterment.
